The following list of courses is recognised by the BCU as appropriate First Aid Awards. This is not a definitive list. In order for Awards not covered in this listed to be recognised. Please provide a copy of the syllabus, detailed course length and the training provider contact details to the British Canoe Union for approval and subsequent inclusion in this list.

Emergency First Aid at Work
(it is assumed this course is 6 hours, unless otherwise stated on the Certificate)

How do I know if a First Aid course is going to be OK?

  1. Check the length of course required for your Coaching/Leadership qualification,
  2. Check if the course appears on the list above, if not
  •  An “Appointed Person” Certificate is 4 hours, unless otherwise stated on the Certificate
  •  An “Emergency first Aid at Work” Certificate is 6 hours, unless otherwise stated on the Certificate
  •  from 1/10/2009 the First Aid at Work becomes a 3 day course
