Canoeing can be a hobby, passion, sport, or even a job for all. Paddling allows family and friends to experience exercise and challenge that is therapeutic for both mind and body. The sport is so diverse that there is literally something for everyone, regardless of your age or ability. More importantly, canoeing is pleasurable, fun and a great way of accessing the outdoors; exercising and gaining independence. Together, able bodied and disabled can share all aspects of the sport.

Paddle-Ability
To promote and develop canoeing for disabled people, the British Canoe Union & Canoe England use the concept and term Paddle-Ability to address the issue of participation in canoe sport and canoe recreation. Paddle-Ability focuses on the individuals' ability in canoeing rather than disability.

Help us find out about Paddle-Ability in your club
To get a better overall picture of disability paddlesport in the country we are inviting clubs and their members to respond to the short questionnaire about disability paddling. The main aim of this questionnaire is to assess and find out from you how we can work to best support you with current disabled members and how we could support clubs in the future to develop with current or future paddlers.
We would also like to gain an idea on the number of people with disabilities taking part in Paddlesport as well as be able to identify where the local expertise and knowledge is so that we can signpost any new paddlers in your direction. Even if you currently are not aware of any paddlers with disabilities please also submit your answers to the questions so we know how we can best support your club.
