At Canoe England we are conscious that our members may get
involved in a number of outdoor activities as well as paddling. If you are also
involved in hill walking, mountaineering or climbing we would like to share the
following Funding Opportunity with you. If you are purely paddling focused we
would like to know if you would be interested in this Fund being rolled out to
Paddlesport volunteers.
Plas y Brenin, the National Mountain Sports Centre has
recently announced a fund to help support volunteer leaders and coaches in
areas where leaders and young people may be lacking in opportunity or advantage
– The Future Leaders Fund. This fund is aimed at helping volunteer leaders in
the outdoors access more affordable training. The fund takes the form of up to
75% subsidy on training or assessment courses in hill walking, mountaineering

Making the Future Leaders Fund available to paddlesport
volunteers is currently being considered. If you are, or know a paddlesport
volunteer leader/coach who could benefit from this type of fund, please register
your interest to support this proposal.
